July 4th Door Décor: 4 Ideas for Your All-American Home

Since we’re all spending more time at home, maybe we should decorate our home a bit more for Independence Day. A good place to start is the entryway of your home. Here are 4 simple ways to show a little patriotism right at your front door without investing a lot of money.

1. Door wreaths

Wreaths aren’t just for Christmas—a patriotic wreath for Independence Day can really help your home stand out and takes minimal effort to get right. Decide if you want to go for a complete DIY project or something off-the-shelf so you can budget your free time for your project.

If you love a DIY project, we found 20 different ideas for you to choose from with tutorials here!

If you do not have much time on your hands to head to the craft store, you can get a patriotic wreath with minimal effort by purchasing a simple undecorated wreath and draping a small flag across the front or entwining it with red white and blue ribbon. If you’re really pressed for time, here are also a few ready to purchase options!

2. Banners

If you’re ready to go bigger and bolder, you can frame your entryway with patriotic banners. You can pick up off-the-shelf flag banners to hang on either side of your doorway, or you can get a bit more creative with the fabric of your choice from your local fabric store.

3. Door hangers

If you’re a more understated holiday homeowner, you could go with a simple door hanger. Again, you can DIY this OR you can support American made products by ordering a handmade door hanger from Etsy.

4. Doormats

A doormat is a great piece of decoration for your home entryway—and it doesn’t take much to make it a nice part of your patriotic décor. You could choose a plain red, white, or blue mat to pair with your patriotic wreath or find something a little more fun like this one we found at Target! We’d suggest against using a fabric flag image as a mat—it might send a strange message to wipe your feet on the stars and stripes—but there are plenty of other patriotic motifs you might adopt.
